NATURE-LOVERS can find out about the wildlife in their neighbourhood this week.

The events are part of Hartlepool Council's Wild About Hartlepool programme.

A Night of the Owls takes place tomorrow between 6pm and 8pm, starting at the entrance to the Hart to Haswell Walkway in Ocean Road at Hart Station.

The wardens have joined forces with the Tees Valley Wildlife Trust to give people the chance to listen for tawny owls and other creatures.

Summerhill Country Park in Hartlepool's Catcote Road is the venue for a Mammals of Summerhill event on Friday from 10am to noon. Council ecologist Ian Bond will lead a stroll in search of animals.

Participants should meet at the visitor centre and wear suitable footwear and clothing. Advance booking is essential for both events. Call (01429) 853325.
