New Boro Badge
Love/Hate it?
Middlesbrough chairman, Steve Gibson, unveiled the new Boro badge this week, to a volley of dissent amonst Boro fans.

Posts on the Fly Me to the Moon website (boro's fanzine), are almost unanimous in their derision of the, admittedly amatuerish, attempt at capturing the clubs history. It seems that the basic design has approval, but the execution is being slated, and identity of the designers questioned.

This, in turn, sparked of a number of personal attempts, including one with a Crayola Crayon underneath and this one from FMTTM member 'Bully-Boy', which got a lot of approval.

Better?

However, Steve is quoted in local press as saying: "I've been pressing for the change of badge for some time. The 1986 badge suggested our history was far shorter than it really was.

"We should be proud of our history and that the club is one of the oldest not just in England but in the entire world. Our history before 1986 might not always have been covered in glory but it is our history all the same and we should recognise that.

"The new badge will ensure that everyone in the football world knows just how far back Middlesbrough Football Club goes. We should all be proud of that."

I think we now have the weakest badge in the Premier League. The scroll is too weak when reduced and when you see it next to another clubs badge as a fixture it looks amateurish.

We should have just had the rampant lion with M.F.C above it and 1876 below. I just hope the new season brings more success than the badge and that the players will still want to kiss it when they score!
