A TEESSIDE college will hold a workshop on Sikhism this week in a bid to raise awareness of the religion.

Roop Singh will deliver his workshop at Stockton Riverside College tomorrow.

Included in the session will be stories and descriptions of Sikh life and customs.

A college spokesman said: "Stockton Riverside College does its utmost to promote good relations between people of different races and cultures and these kind of light-hearted events are ideal in raising awareness and encouraging tolerance and understanding.

"Not only is it beneficial for students to respect one another within the college, but they will be entering professions where it will be of great importance that they appreciate and respect all aspects of a diverse local and global community."

Sounds like a great idea to me - more of this should be done in the community.
