AN extension to a primary school costing £860,000 and lasting eight months has been completed.
Tees Valley builder Rok carried out the work at Acklam Whin Primary School, Middlesbrough, over three stages to avoid major disruption to classes. Three classroom extensions were built, to include a reception and office, a parent waiting and resource area, and toilets. To mark an end to the work, Rok is sponsoring an annual Easter egg competition, where hard-boiled eggs will be decorated and judged. The judges will include a representative from the company. Steve Allen, of Rok, said: "This building has provided Acklam Whin primary with a top-class teaching space for the children." Headteacher John Lees said: "Easter is a time of new life, and our new build gives our school new possibilities and opportunities for our children's education."
