Born in Stockton-On-Tees on 15th October 1965. At the age of three Stephen and his family moved to Scarborough, then two years later to St. Anne's on Sea in Lancashire.

Captain James Cook is arguably this country's most famous explorer. His expedition to Australia in the Endeavor is known and taught in schools everywhere.
James Cook was born in Marton, now a suburb of Middlesbrough, on 27th October 1728. As a boy he lived at the foot of Roseberry Topping in Aireyholme Farm, going to school at nearby Great Ayton.

John Walker was a small time chemist who had a small shop on Stocktons High Street. He regularly sold gunpowders to local people and experimented with combustible materials.

One half of the 'Vic 'n' Bob' partnership, Bob Mortimer was born in Middlesbrough. At school, Bob was a pretty good kid and was also captain of the school football team. His love of the game continued for years to come, with Bob playing for Middlesbrough Boys and also becoming captain of his University team.
