i saw the retro night advertised and i thought that meant they would play the kind of music that was played in clubs around early to mid 1990's. so i went there with a mate and paid £15 just to get in. i like the design of the club, it is how a nightclub should be designed. i hate what they did to what is now zanzibar up the road in stockton. unfortunately the sky high entry fee isnt the only really bad thing about the club. well if the music is retro then it must have only been played in underground clubs because i only recognised about 5 or 6 tunes all night. i was pleased to see that the bars were well staffed. this reduced when i tried to get served and found myself stood there for what seemed like a lifetime. they had no draught on at all either. we also grew suspitious of the place when we started to notice the amount of people just drinking water. there was a good atmosphere in the place and that is why i gave it a good score for that. unfortunately i dont see us going there again. its a shame because it has so much potential.

i go to this place most weekends but only because there is knowhere else and i hate queueing for ages to get into goldies when half the time it isnt even full. we tried club m's retro night recently and that was pants unless you like hard house none stop. i have reviewed that place already. so being an old duffer in my mid 30's i have been going out on the town since the early 90's when this place was the mall. i dont like the 2 room thing myself. it is never as busy as i would like, especially downstairs. i might like it more if it was busy. i dont like the party music upstairs. nonestop, 50 cent, christina aguilera and i will survive just doesnt do anything for me. downstairs is the total opposite and is none stop extreme hardcore. so if you are like me and want something between the two you are stuffed. i hope they refurbish the place and get it back to one room. as far as trouble goes i dont see much more than any other place really. for those who never knew the mall and are wondering which is best. well consider this, the mall was popular enough to be open monday, thursday, friday and saturday nights. zanzibar is only open friday and saturday night.
i almost forgot, i love the dancing girls downstairs.
