Ikharev, a travelling cardsharp, holes up in a grotty provincial tavern with nothing but a trunk full of playing cards and last months winnings. Desperate for a game of Bank and new blood to draw, he sits down to play with three men staying in the tavern. They soon realize it’s in (nearly) everyone’s interests to work together… A rare chance to see Gogol’s darkly comic thriller about the power of greed and the cruelty of chance: a hand too good to fold.
